Rinsaku Akamatsu
Meester van Osaka-prenten
Akamatsu Rinsaku was een schilder, illustrator, cartoonist en prentmaker in Osaka. Hij werd geboren in 1878 in Tsuyama City in de prefectuur Okayama, Japan. Hij studeerde westerse schilderkunst aan de gerenommeerde Tokyo School of Fine Arts, waarbij een van zijn leraren Yamauchi Gusen was. De eerste baan van Akamatsu Rinsaku was als illustrator voor de krant Osaka Asahi Shimbun. Zijn belangrijkste werk is de serie "Zesendertig gezichten op Osaka", voltooid en gepubliceerd in 1947. Rinsaku Akamatsu droeg ook bij aan de serie "Afbeeldingen van beroemde plaatsen in Osaka en Kobe".
