Andrea Mantegna
Prospettiva scultorea e figure monumentali
Andrea Mantegna è stato un pittore italiano, studente di archeologia romana e genero di Jacopo Bellini. Come altri artisti del suo tempo, Mantegna sperimentò la prospettiva, ad esempio abbassando la linea dell’orizzonte per creare un senso di maggiore monumentalità. I suoi paesaggi duri come la selce e metallici, e le sue figure alquanto lapidee, testimoniano un approccio alla pittura fondamentalmente scultoreo. Guidò inoltre una bottega che fu il principale produttore di stampe a Venezia prima del 1500。
