アンドレア・マンテーニャ
彫刻的遠近法と荘厳な人物
アンドレア・マンテーニャはイタリアの画家であり、ローマ考古学の学生で、ヤコポ・ベリーニの婿でもあった。 同時代の他の芸術家と同様、マンテーニャは遠近法の実験に取り組み、例えば地平線を下げることでより壮大な印象を生み出した。燧石のように硬く金属的な質感を持つ風景や、やや石像のような人物描写は、彼の絵画が本質的に彫刻的なアプローチに基づいていることを示している。また、彼は工房を率いており、その工房は1500年以前のヴェネツィアにおいて版画の主要な生産拠点であった。
