Ary de Vois
Pintor de género de Leiden
Ary de Vois fue un pintor neerlandés del Siglo de Oro. Ary de Vois nació y murió en Leiden. Era hijo de Alewijn de Vois, originario de Utrecht, quien fue organista en la Pieterskerk de Leiden en 1635. Ary se convirtió en alumno en Utrecht de Nikolaus Knüpfer, quien también enseñó a Jan Steen. Luego, Ary regresó a Leiden para estudiar con Abraham van den Tempel, quien vivió allí entre 1648 y 1660. De Vois se unió al Gremio de San Lucas de Leiden el 16 de octubre de 1653, pagando cuotas hasta 1677. Fue decano en 1662-64, jefe en 1664-65 y nuevamente decano de 1667 a 1668. Se casó con Maria van der Vecht el 5 de febrero de 1656. Según Houbraken, su matrimonio provocó una pausa en su producción, especialmente cuando se mudó a Warmond, donde tomó la pesca como afición. Tuvo que volver a Leiden para mantener altos sus niveles de producción.
