Attilio Mussino

Attilio Mussino era un pittore e fumettista italiano, noto soprattutto per aver disegnato le illustrazioni della prima edizione a colori delle Avventure di Pinocchio di Carlo Collodi nel 1911. Durante la Prima guerra mondiale, Mussino fu un soldato che utilizzò le sue abilità artistiche per disegnare scene dei campi di battaglia francesi e attività quotidiane delle operazioni militari. Formatosi all'Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti di Torino, in Italia — un istituto di istruzione superiore secolare —, Mussino illustrò numerosi libri per bambini, tra cui le fiabe dei fratelli Grimm e di Hans Christian Andersen, nonché Le avventure di Tom Sawyer di Mark Twain. Oltre ai suoi numerosi successi artistici, Mussino sarà ricordato soprattutto per il suo ritratto definitivo del birichino personaggio Pinocchio e per la versione di questa importante fiaba che è l'opera di letteratura per l'infanzia più ristampata e venduta.
