貝爾納·皮卡爾

貝爾納·皮卡爾（Bernard Picart）是一位法國版畫家，其父埃蒂安·皮卡爾（Étienne Picart）同樣是版畫家。他出生於巴黎，逝於阿姆斯特丹。1696年，他遷居安特衛普，隨後在阿姆斯特丹度過一年，並於1698年底返回法國。妻子於1708年去世後，他於1711年再次遷居阿姆斯特丹（其父後來也與他會合），在那裡改信新教並再婚。 他的大部分作品是書籍插圖，包括《聖經》和奧維德的作品。他最著名的作品是《世界各民族宗教儀式與習俗》，出版於1723年至1743年間。喬納森·I·以色列稱《儀式》為「一項巨大的努力，旨在盡可能客觀且真實地記錄世界各地宗教儀式和信仰的多樣性」。儘管皮卡爾從未離開過歐洲，但他依賴於那些曾到過當地的人的描述，並能夠接觸到一批印度雕塑藏品。《儀式》的法文原版包含十卷文本與版畫。
