卡尔·哈格
东方主义水彩画大师
卡尔·哈格是一位出生于巴伐利亚的画家，后归化为英国公民，并曾担任萨克森-科堡-哥达公爵的宫廷画家。 哈格出生于巴伐利亚王国的埃尔朗根，曾在纽伦堡美术学院和慕尼黑接受艺术训练。他最初从事插画创作，并以油画绘制肖像和建筑题材；但在1847年，他移居英格兰，在那里学习了英国水彩技法。此后，他便专心致力于水彩画创作。 1850年，他当选为皇家水彩画家协会的准会员，随后于1853年成为正式会员。他还曾受到维多利亚女王的赞助。1858年至1860年间，他前往中东旅行，起初在开罗停留了一年多，期间与艺术家弗雷德里克·古德尔共用一间画室。此后，他又游历了耶路撒冷、黎巴嫩和叙利亚，然后返回开罗。在此期间，他创作了大量素描，并在回到伦敦后将其加工成油画作品。1873至1874年间，他再次前往埃及，为进一步创作东方题材画作汲取灵感。 他是一位多产且重要的圣地题材画家。他以笔触坚实、刻画精细的东方题材画作赢得了极高的声誉。他的一些中东题材作品现藏于以色列博物馆。1903年，他退休；晚年时，哈格离开英国，回到新统一的德意志帝国，并在奥伯韦塞尔逝世。
