卡爾·哈格
東方主義水彩畫大師
卡爾·哈格是一位出生於巴伐利亞的畫家，後歸化為英國公民，並曾擔任薩克森-科堡-哥達公爵的宮廷畫家。 哈格出生於巴伐利亞王國的埃爾朗根，曾在紐倫堡美術學院和慕尼黑接受藝術訓練。他最初從事插畫創作，並以油畫繪製肖像和建築題材；但在1847年，他移居英格蘭，在那裡學習了英國水彩技法。此後，他便專心致力於水彩畫創作。 1850年，他當選為皇家水彩畫家協會的準會員，隨後於1853年成為正式會員。他也曾受到維多利亞女王的贊助。1858年至1860年間，他前往中東旅行，起初在開羅停留了一年多，期間與藝術家弗雷德里克·古德爾共用一間畫室。此後，他又遊歷了耶路撒冷、黎巴嫩和敘利亞，然後返回開羅。在此期間，他創作了大量素描，並在回到倫敦後將其加工成油畫作品。1873至1874年間，他再次前往埃及，為進一步創作東方題材畫作汲取靈感。 他是一位多產且重要的聖地題材畫家。他以筆觸堅實、刻畫精細的東方題材畫作贏得了極高的聲譽。他的一些中東題材作品現藏於以色列博物館。1903年，他退休；晚年時，哈格離開英國，回到新統一的德意志帝國，並在奧伯韋塞爾逝世。
