Carl Reichert

Pittore di genere, animali e scene cittadine, Reichert nacque a Vienna il 27 agosto 1836 e morì a Gratz il 5 aprile 1918. Era figlio del ritrattista e pittore di animali Heinrich Reichert, fratello di Heinrich Reichert che dipingeva scenografie teatrali e nipote di Bonfiaz Heinrich e Franz Heinrich Reichert. Carl fu allievo all'Accademia di Disegno di Gratz con J. Tunner e E. Chr. Moser. Studiò poi a Monaco e, dal 1866 al 1867, a Roma con Ludwig Joh. Passini e Anton Romako. Dal 1869 al 1910 lavorò a Vienna e successivamente a Gratz. Pubblicò una serie di incisioni raffiguranti la «vecchia» Gratz e in particolare il castello. Carl è noto per i suoi ritratti di cani di piccolo formato, estremamente dettagliati. Il museo di Baden-Baden ospita un'opera dell'artista.
