Charles James Richardson
Architetto ed educatore soaniano.
Charles James Richardson era un architetto, artista e scrittore inglese. Richardson fu allievo di Sir John Soane dal 1824 al 1830; divenne poi assistente di Soane, ricoprendo la posizione fino al 1837 e alla morte di Soane. Il testamento di Soane prevedeva che Richardson sarebbe stato il curatore aggiunto e bibliotecario del Museo Soane. In realtà, per ragioni finanziarie, non gli fu offerto alcun incarico. Per un periodo Richardson tentò, senza successo, di fondare un'accademia di architettura. Divenne Fellow del Royal Institute of British Architects nel 1838, rimanendo membro fino al 1868. Dal 1845 al 1852 Richardson fu maestro della classe di architettura nella scuola di design a Somerset House. Nel 1852 progettò la residenza di Leicester Stanhope, quinto conte di Harrington, al 13 Kensington Palace Gardens; nel 1853 realizzò opere a Belsize Park, Hampstead, e nel 1856 un blocco di residenze in Queen's Gate, Hyde Park, per W. Jackson. Morì nel 1871.
