Christian Albrecht Jensen fue un pintor de retratos danés que estuvo activo durante la Edad de Oro de la pintura danesa en la primera mitad del siglo XIX. Pintando más de 400 retratos a lo largo de su carrera, representó a la mayoría de las figuras destacadas de la Edad de Oro danesa, incluyendo al escritor Hans Christian Andersen, al pintor Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, al escultor Bertel Thorvaldsen, al físico Hans Christian Ørsted y al teólogo N. F. S. Grundtvig. Aunque Jensen logró un considerable éxito comercial, recibió poca apreciación oficial por parte del establishment artístico de su época. En particular, el historiador y crítico de arte Niels Lauritz Høyen criticó su estilo, considerando sus pinturas «inacabadas».
