Claude Gillot
Pionero de las fiestas galantes
Claude Gillot fue un pintor, grabador e ilustrador francés, más conocido como el maestro de Watteau y Lancret. Gillot nació en Langres. Fue pintor, grabador, ilustrador de libros, trabajador del metal y diseñador teatral. Watteau fue su aprendiz entre 1703 y 1708. Las piezas de paisaje mitológico animadas de Gillot, con títulos como El festín de Pan y El festín de Baco, le abrieron las puertas de la Academia de Pintura de París en 1715; luego adaptó su arte a los gustos de moda de la época e introdujo las fêtes champêtres decorativas, en las que más tarde fue superado por sus alumnos. También estuvo estrechamente vinculado a la ópera y al teatro como diseñador de escenografía y vestuario. Murió en París, a los 49 años.
