Claude Gillot
Pioneiro das festas galantes
Claude Gillot foi um pintor, gravador e ilustrador francês, mais conhecido como o mestre de Watteau e Lancret. Gillot nasceu em Langres. Ele foi pintor, gravador, ilustrador de livros, trabalhador do metal e designer de teatro. Watteau foi seu aprendiz entre 1703 e 1708. As peças de paisagem mitológica animadas de Gillot, com títulos como O Banquete de Pã e O Banquete de Baco, abriram-lhe as portas da Academia de Pintura de Paris em 1715; ele então adaptou sua arte aos gostos da moda da época e introduziu as fêtes champêtres decorativas, nas quais foi posteriormente superado por seus alunos. Ele também estava estreitamente ligado à ópera e ao teatro como designer de cenários e figurinos. Ele morreu em Paris, aos 49 anos.
