Conrad Martin Metz
Incise i maestri e Michelangelo
L'incisore, disegnatore e pittore Conrad Martin Metz nacque a Bonn tra il 1745 e il 1749. Studiò a Londra presso le scuole della Royal Academy e con l'incisore (e accademico fondatore) Francesco Bartolozzi. Metz incise molti soggetti religiosi tratti dai vecchi maestri in pubblicazioni come Imitations of Drawings by Parmegiano. Nel 1801 si recò a Roma, dove intraprese il suo progetto più ambizioso: una grande incisione, composta da quindici lastre, del Giudizio Universale di Michelangelo nella Cappella Sistina.
