콘라트 마르틴 메츠
거장과 미켈란젤로 판화
판화가, 도안가, 화가인 콘라드 마틴 메츠는 1745년에서 1749년 사이에 본에서 태어났다. 그는 런던의 로열 아카데미 스쿨스에서 공부했으며 판화가이자 창립 회원인 프란체스코 바르톨로치에게 사사했다. 메츠는 『파르미자니노의 드로잉 모방』과 같은 출판물에서 고전 대가들의 작품을 바탕으로 많은 종교적 주제를 판각했다. 1801년 그는 로마로 가서 가장 야심찬 프로젝트인 시스티나 성당의 미켈란젤로의 <최후의 심판>을 15개의 판으로 구성된 대형 판화로 제작하는 작업을 수행했다.
