Emile Cagniart was a French academic landscape and Paris Boulevard painter. He is most well known for his Vue du Palais de Justice, which was acquired by the French government, and his views of the Meuse Valley in Belgium. 彼はリヨンのエコール・デ・ボザールでピエール＝デジレ・ギルメ（1827-1908）に師事した。カニャールは1877年のパリ・サロンでの初展示で高く評価された。その後、サロン委員会の委員に任命され、栄誉を受けた。
