Francesco de Mura
Spätbarock zum Klassizismus
Francesco de Mura war ein italienischer Maler des späten Barock, der hauptsächlich in Neapel und Turin tätig war. Sein Spätwerk spiegelt den Stil des Klassizismus wider. Francesco de Mura, auch Franceschiello genannt, war ein Schüler von Francesco Solimena und später von Domenico Viola, wo er seinen Zeitgenossen Mattia Preti kennenlernte. Noch in seinen Teenagerjahren malte er Fresken (1715) in San Nicola alla Carità in Neapel. Er malte zehn Leinwände der Tugenden und eine Anbetung der Heiligen Drei Könige (1728) für die Kirche Santa Maria Donnaromita. Zu seinen weiteren Werken gehören Fresken der Anbetung der Heiligen Drei Könige (1732) in der Apsiskuppel der Kirche der Nunziatella. De Mura malte auch Porträts. Zu seinen Schülern gehörten Pietro Bardellino und Girolamo Starace.
