Francesco de Mura
Baroque tardif vers néoclassicisme
Francesco de Mura était un peintre italien de la fin de la période baroque, actif principalement à Naples et à Turin. Son œuvre tardive reflète le style du néoclassicisme. Francesco de Mura, également appelé Franceschiello, fut un élève de Francesco Solimena, puis plus tard de Domenico Viola, où il rencontra son contemporain, Mattia Preti. Alors qu'il était encore adolescent, il peignit des fresques (1715) à San Nicola alla Carità à Naples. Il peignit dix toiles des Vertus et une Adoration des mages (1728) pour l'église Santa Maria Donnaromita. Ses autres œuvres comprennent des fresques de l'Adoration des mages (1732) dans le dôme de l'abside de l'église de la Nunziatella. De Mura a également peint des portraits. Parmi ses élèves figuraient Pietro Bardellino et Girolamo Starace.
