Francesco de Mura
Tardo barocco al neoclassicismo
Francesco de Mura è stato un pittore italiano del tardo barocco, attivo principalmente a Napoli e Torino. La sua opera tarda riflette lo stile del neoclassicismo. Francesco de Mura, anche noto come Franceschiello, fu allievo di Francesco Solimena e in seguito di Domenico Viola, dove conobbe il suo contemporaneo, Mattia Preti. Ancora adolescente affrescò (1715) a San Nicola alla Carità a Napoli. Dipinse dieci tele delle Virtù e un'Adorazione dei Magi (1728) per la chiesa di Santa Maria Donnaromita. Le sue altre opere includono affreschi dell'Adorazione dei Magi (1732) nella cupola absidale della chiesa della Nunziatella. De Mura dipinse anche ritratti. Tra i suoi allievi vi erano Pietro Bardellino e Girolamo Starace.
