Francesco de Mura
Laat-barok naar neoclassicisme
Francesco de Mura was een Italiaanse schilder uit de late barokperiode, voornamelijk actief in Napels en Turijn. Zijn late werk weerspiegelt de stijl van het neoclassicisme. Francesco de Mura, ook aangeduid als Franceschiello, was een leerling van Francesco Solimena en later van Domenico Viola, waar hij zijn tijdgenoot Mattia Preti ontmoette. Nog in zijn tienerjaren schilderde hij fresco's (1715) in San Nicola alla Carità in Napels. Hij schilderde tien doeken van de Deugden en een Aanbidding van de koningen (1728) voor de kerk van Santa Maria Donnaromita. Zijn andere werken omvatten fresco's van de Aanbidding van de koningen (1732) in de koepel van de apsis van de kerk van de Nunziatella. De Mura schilderde ook portretten. Onder zijn leerlingen bevonden zich Pietro Bardellino en Girolamo Starace.
