Francesco Lorenzi
Laat-barokke frescoschilder in Verona
Francesco Lorenzi was een Italiaanse schilder uit de late barokperiode. Hij was aanvankelijk leerling van Matteo Brida in Verona, maar ging naar Venetië en werd leerling van Giovanni Battista Tiepolo. In Venetië schilderde hij een altaarstuk voor een kapel in Santa Caterina (Venetië). In 1750 keert hij terug naar Verona, waar hij veel opdrachten kreeg, hoewel hij moest concurreren met zijn tijdgenoot Giambettino Cignaroli. Veel van zijn werken waren fresco's. Hij richtte zelfs een academie op die concurreerde met Cignaroli, de Accademia Aletofili. Hij schilderde een Heilige Familie voor de kerk van San Lorenzo in Brescia. Hij was actief in de hele regio. Boni noemt twee overlijdensdata, ofwel 1783 of 1788. Hij schilderde de figuren terwijl Filippo Maccari de quadratura schilderde voor een kamer in het huis Ferrari in San Silvestro. Lorenzi schilderde een chiaroscuro-borstbeeld van Maccari zelf. Francesco's broer, Giovanni Domenico Lorenzi, was een graveur.
