Francisco de Zurbarán

Francisco de Zurbarán war ein spanischer Maler. Er ist vor allem für seine religiösen Gemälde bekannt, die Mönche, Nonnen und Märtyrer darstellen, sowie für seine Stillleben. Zurbarán erhielt den Spitznamen „spanischer Caravaggio“, aufgrund seiner kraftvollen und realistischen Anwendung der Chiaroscuro-Maltechnik, in der er sich auszeichnete.
