Francisco de Zurbarán fu un pittore spagnolo. È noto principalmente per i suoi dipinti religiosi raffiguranti monaci, suore e martiri, e per le sue nature morte. Zurbarán ottenne il soprannome di «Caravaggio spagnolo» grazie all’uso vigoroso e realistico del chiaroscuro, tecnica nella quale eccelleva.
