Francisco de Zurbarán

Francisco de Zurbarán was een Spaanse schilder. Hij is voornamelijk bekend om zijn religieuze schilderijen die monniken, nonnen en martelaren afbeelden, en om zijn stillevens. Zurbarán kreeg de bijnaam "Spaanse Caravaggio" vanwege het krachtige, realistische gebruik van chiaroscuro, waarin hij uitblonk.
