Gabriel de Saint-Aubin

Gabriel de Saint-Aubin, también conocido como Gabriel Jacques de Saint-Aubin, fue un dibujante, grabador y pintor francés. Sus hermanos Charles Germain de Saint Aubin y Augustin de Saint-Aubin también eran artistas, al igual que su sobrina Marie-François, hija de Charles. Fue alumno de Étienne Jeaurat y Hyacinthe Collin de Vermont. Después de tres fracasos para ganar el Prix de Rome entre 1752 y 1754, dejó la Académie des Beaux-Arts y se unió a la Gremio de San Lucas. Un aspecto distintivo del arte de Saint-Aubin es su excesiva afición por observar la sociedad en las calles de la capital, que él bosquejaba durante sus paseos. Por tanto, sus grabados, litografías y grandes acuarelas constituyen un valioso registro de la vida artística parisina en el siglo XVIII.
