Gabriel de Saint-Aubin

Gabriel de Saint-Aubin, também conhecido como Gabriel Jacques de Saint-Aubin, foi um desenhista, gravador e pintor francês. Seus irmãos Charles Germain de Saint Aubin e Augustin de Saint-Aubin também eram artistas, assim como sua sobrinha Marie-François, filha de Charles. Ele foi aluno de Étienne Jeaurat e Hyacinthe Collin de Vermont. Após três falhas para ganhar o Prix de Rome entre 1752 e 1754, ele deixou a Académie des Beaux-Arts e juntou-se à Guilda de São Lucas. Um aspecto distintivo da arte de Saint-Aubin é seu excessivo apego à observação da sociedade nas ruas da capital, que ele esboçava em suas caminhadas. Assim, suas gravuras, litografias e grandes aquarelas constituem um valioso registro da vida artística parisina no século XVIII.
