喬治·伍利斯克羅夫特·雷德
工藝美術運動版畫家設計師
喬治·伍利斯科羅夫特·里德於1855年出生在北斯塔福德郡。他的父親是一位才華橫溢的陶器設計師，喬治於1871年移居倫敦，在W. S. 科爾曼的指導下進入明頓工作室工作。隨後，他獲得獎學金進入南肯辛頓藝術學院學習。他師從前拉斐爾派藝術家福特·馬多克斯·布朗學習繪畫，並跟隨法國大師阿爾豐斯·萊格羅學習蝕刻版畫。作為一名畫家、蝕刻版畫家以及彩色玻璃和陶瓷設計師，喬治·伍利斯科羅夫特·里德是源於前拉斐爾派的英國工藝美術運動的核心人物。 他在蝕刻版畫方面尤為才華橫溢，於1883年當選為皇家畫家與蝕刻版畫家學會會員。他曾兩次結婚：1894年與路易絲結為連理，1914年又迎娶了蘇格蘭藝術家安妮·弗倫奇。他的兄弟弗雷德里克·阿爾弗雷德·里德留在了陶器產區，其四個子女也隨他投身陶瓷行業，其中包括設計師夏洛特·里德。路易斯·約翰·里德於1883年移居紐約，後成為美國公民，被公認為美國新藝術運動最重要的藝術家之一。喬治·伍利斯科羅夫特·里德則留在倫敦，並於1920年在那裡去世。
