古典風景濕壁畫大師
喬瓦尼·法蘭切斯科·格里馬爾迪是一位義大利畫家、素描家、版畫家和建築師。他是一位技藝精湛的古典風景濕壁畫家，其作品深受羅馬顯赫家族的青睞。 格里馬爾迪出生於波隆那，並在卡拉奇家族的藝術圈中接受訓練。此後，他成為樞機主教弗朗切斯科·阿爾巴尼的學生。他前往羅馬，被任命為教皇保祿五世的建築師，並受到繼任教皇的贊助。大約在1648年，他應樞機主教馬薩林的邀請前往法國，在隨後約兩年間，他為這位大臣及路易十四從事建築工程，並在羅浮宮進行壁畫創作。 他的色彩鮮明，綠色的運用略顯過度；筆觸輕盈。他創作歷史畫、肖像畫和風景畫——其中尤以風景畫為最愛，晚年更是如此——並根據自己的風景畫以及提香和卡拉奇的作品製作了雕版畫和蝕刻畫。回到羅馬後，他被任命為聖盧卡學院的院長（principe）；他在羅馬去世時，已憑藉精湛的藝術造詣和慈善義舉贏得了崇高聲譽。 他的兒子亞歷山德羅在繪畫和版畫方面都曾協助他。格里馬爾迪的畫作保存在奎里納萊宮、梵蒂岡以及聖馬蒂諾阿伊蒙蒂教堂；科隆納宮還收藏了他的一系列風景畫。他的情婦是埃琳娜·阿洛伊西，她是畫家巴爾達薩雷·阿洛伊西的女兒。
