Heinrich Friedrich Füger
Retratista neoclássico alemão teatral
Heinrich Friedrich Füger foi um pintor retratista e histórico alemão de estilo clássico. Füger foi aluno de Nicolas Guibal em Stuttgart e de Adam Friedrich Oeser em Leipzig. Posteriormente, viajou e passou algum tempo em Roma e Nápoles, onde pintou afrescos no Palácio de Caserta. Ao retornar a Viena, foi nomeado pintor da corte, professor e vice-diretor da Academia, e em 1806 diretor da Galeria do Belvedere. Entre suas pinturas históricas estão: A Despedida de Coriolano (Galeria Czernin, Viena), Alegoria sobre a Paz de Viena (1801), A Morte de Germânico (1789), O Assassinato de César e Betsabá (Galeria de Budapeste). Entre seus retratos estão os do imperador José II, da grã-duquesa Isabel Guilhermina de Württemberg, da rainha Carolina de Nápoles e de Horatio Nelson, que posou para ele em Viena em 1800 (National Portrait Gallery, Londres). Ele pintava no estilo clássico de Louis David e Anton Raphael Mengs e tinha inclinação para o teatral. Füger também foi professor; entre seus alunos estavam Gustav Philipp Zwinger e Franciszek Ksawery Lampi.
