Hendrik van Steenwijck II foi um pintor barroco especializado principalmente em interiores arquitetônicos, mas também em cenas bíblicas e naturezas-mortas. Van Steenwijck nasceu em Antuérpia. Seu pai, o pintor holandês Hendrik van Steenwijck I, um dos criadores do gênero de interiores, mudou a família para Frankfurt am Main em 1585, onde treinou seu filho. Após a morte de seu pai em 1603, Van Steenwijck, o Jovem, assumiu o ateliê em Frankfurt, mas de 1604 a 1617 esteve principalmente ativo em Antuérpia, colaborando com pintores barrocos flamengos iniciais como Frans Francken I e Jan Brueghel, o Velho. Van Steenwijck é mais conhecido pelos seus numerosos interiores imaginários baseados na Catedral de Nossa Senhora de Antuérpia. Isso teve uma influência imediata nas pinturas de Pieter Neeffs I. Após estabelecer-se em Londres até 1617, ele pintou fundos para Anthony van Dyck e Daniel Mytens, o Velho. Van Steenwijck mudou-se para Haia por volta de 1638, onde foi pintor da corte. Sua esposa, Susanna van Steenwijk, também era uma pintora de arquitetura. Ela mudou-se para Leiden por volta de 1642. Van Steenwijck morreu em Leiden ou Haia.
