Hendrik Jacobus Scholten

Hendrik Jacobus Scholten è stato un pittore olandese del XIX secolo. Secondo il RKD, fu allievo di Petrus Franciscus Greive e Lambertus Johannes Hansen. Nel 1852 divenne membro della Reale Accademia d'Arte di Amsterdam e fu membro delle società artistiche di Amsterdam Arti et Amicitiae, Kunstbevorderend Genootschap V.W. e Vereeniging Sint Lucas. Fu anche membro di società artistiche in altre città, come lo studio Pulchri all'Aia, la Schilder- en teekengenootschap Kunstliefde a Utrecht e la Kunst zij ons doel a Haarlem. Nel 1872 divenne curatore d'arte della Teylers Stichting, che gestisce la collezione d'arte del Teylers Museum. In tale veste scrisse un catalogo della collezione del museo, che fu pubblicato nel 1904. Dipinse diverse tele esposte nelle gallerie del museo, nonché decorazioni nel Teyler's fundatiehuis, dove visse e lavorò dal 1863 fino alla morte.
