アンリ・ブテ
パリ風俗版画の巨匠
アンリ・ブーテはフランスの版画家、イラストレーターである。1851年にサント＝エルミーヌ（ヴァンデ県）で生まれ、1919年6月9日にパリで没した。「コルセットの小さな巨匠」または「ミディネットの画家」という愛称で知られた。 1890年代、ブテは「パリ風」の様式でネグリジェ姿の女性を描いたエッチングおよびドライポイントの制作を専門とし、鑑識眼のある大衆からはほとんど成功を収められなかった。版画は限定版である。評判が高まるにつれて、ブテは自身の出版社を立ち上げ、Le Frou-frou、L'Assiette au beurre、Le Pêle-Mêleなどの雑誌や、La Plume、L'Estampe originale、The modern print、さらにはHundred Collectionなどの芸術出版物に自身の作品を販売した。彼は多くの年鑑（The Female Year）、カレンダー、メニューに挿絵を提供している。 1902年、彼は『Les Modes Feminines du XIXe Siecle』を出版し、即座に絶賛された。彼の100点のドライポイント・エッチングは、1801年から1900年までの各年のファッションの発展を示している。ドライポイント・エッチングは、生来の柔らかな質感を持つ画像をもたらす。これらの挿絵は手彩色で、細部に細心の注意が払われ、主題に対する彼の愛情を示す表現がなされていた。このオリジナル・エッチング集は600部の限定版であった。
