Henry Noel Humphreys
Illustrateur victorien et naturaliste érudit
Henry Noel Humphreys était un illustrateur, naturaliste, entomologiste et numismate britannique. Humphreys est né le 4 janvier 1810 à Birmingham, fils de James Humphreys, et a été éduqué à la King Edward's School de cette ville. Jeune homme, il a étudié les manuscrits médiévaux en Italie et est devenu un érudit accompli dans de nombreuses disciplines. Outre ses textes d'entomologie, Humphreys a écrit des ouvrages sur les monnaies grecques et romaines antiques, l'archéologie, ainsi que l'art de l'écriture et de l'imprimerie. Il est mort le 10 juin 1879.
