Henry Walton était un peintre et marchand d'art anglais. On sait peu de choses sur les premières années de la vie de Walton. En 1770, il commence à étudier l'art à la St. Martin's Lane Academy, à Londres. Walton travaille principalement comme portraitiste, peignant à l'huile et réalisant des miniatures. Plus tard, il peint quelques œuvres de genre. Les archives indiquent qu'il a ensuite travaillé comme marchand de tableaux et conseiller auprès de grands collectionneurs privés.
