Jacopo Zucchi
Peintre maniériste florentin mythologique
Jacopo Zucchi était un peintre florentin de style maniériste, actif à Florence et à Rome. Sa formation débuta dans l'atelier de Giorgio Vasari, et il participa à la décoration du Studiolo et du Salone dei Cinquecento au Palazzo Vecchio. S'installant à Rome au début des années 1570, il travailla pour le cardinal Ferdinando de' Medici dans son Palazzo Firenze (1574). Il contribua également, avec son frère Francesco, à décorer l'abside et le dôme de Santo Spirito in Sassia d'une fresque de la Pentecôte. Il peignit le grand salon de l'ancien palais Rucellai (aujourd'hui Ruspoli) à Rome avec des généalogies mythologiques. Deux toiles, représentant l'Ascension et la Résurrection, sont conservées dans l'église San Lorenzo Martire à San Lorenzo Nuovo (Italie). Son frère Francesco Zucchi devint un mosaïste renommé et mourut en 1621.
