Jakob Alt
Pintor paisajista austriaco
Jakob Alt fue un pintor y litógrafo alemán. Alt nació en Fráncfort del Meno en 1789, donde recibió su primera educación artística. Más tarde se mudó a Viena e ingresó en la Academia. Pronto se hizo famoso como pintor de paisajes y realizó varios viajes por Austria e Italia, pintando, a su paso, vistas de los alrededores del Danubio y de la ciudad de Viena. En su vida posterior, Alt pintó mucho en acuarela; también fue litógrafo. En 1830, el futuro emperador Fernando I de Austria inició un proyecto para encargar pinturas de las vistas más bellas del Imperio. Alt y su hijo mayor, Rudolf von Alt, pintaron unas 170 de las 300 obras ejecutadas antes de que el proyecto terminara en 1849. Murió en Viena en 1872.
