Jakob Christoph Miville
Paisajes románticos de naturaleza vasta
Nacido en Basilea, Jakob Christoph Miville fue un pintor y dibujante que viajó extensamente. Una estancia en Roma y giras por los Alpes influyeron en sus primeros paisajes heroicos. Pero fue solo durante su estancia en Rusia (1809–1817) cuando desarrolló su particular sensibilidad hacia la naturaleza: las vastas extensiones y paisajes que encontró en Crimea y el Cáucaso inspiraron su evolución hacia un artista paisajista romántico. Regresó a su ciudad natal con una amplia colección de bocetos y estudios, que sirvieron de base para las pinturas que continuó produciendo en Suiza.
