Jan Brueghel (também Bruegel ou Breughel), o Jovem, foi um pintor barroco flamengo, e filho de Jan Brueghel, o Velho. Brueghel nasceu e morreu no século XVII em Antuérpia. Ele foi treinado por seu pai e passou sua carreira produzindo obras em um estilo similar. Juntamente com seu irmão Ambrosius, ele produziu paisagens, cenas alegóricas e outras obras de detalhe meticuloso. Brueghel também copiou obras de seu pai e as vendeu com a assinatura de seu pai. Sua obra se distingue da de seu progenitor por ser menos bem executada e mais leve. Jan, o Jovem, estava viajando pela Itália quando seu pai morreu de cólera, e retornou rapidamente para assumir o controle do estúdio em Antuérpia. Após a morte do pai, ele mudou sua assinatura de 'Brueghel' para 'Breughel'. No ano seguinte, em 1626, casou-se com Anna-Maria Janssens, filha de Abraham Janssens. Ele logo se estabeleceu e foi nomeado reitor da Guilda de São Lucas em 1630. Nesse mesmo ano, foi encomendado pela corte francesa para pintar o Ciclo de Adão. Nos anos seguintes, também produziu pinturas para a corte austríaca e trabalhou independentemente em Paris, antes de retornar a Antuérpia em 1657. Ele colaborou com vários artistas proeminentes, incluindo Rubens, Hendrick van Balen (1575–1632), Adriaen Stalbemt (1580–1682), Lucas Van Uden (1596–1672), seu cunhado David Teniers, o Jovem (1610-1690) e seu sogro Abraham Janssens.
