Jan Chełmiński, também conhecido como Jan van Chelminski, nascido Jan Władysław Chełmiński, foi um pintor polonês. Chełmiński ingressou na Academia de Belas Artes de Munique em 14 de abril de 1875 (registro: 3144) e trabalhou em toda a Europa. A partir de 1895, viveu em Nova York, embora tivesse obtido a cidadania britânica em 1893. Ele se casou duas vezes. Após divorciar-se de sua primeira esposa, Marie Henschel (1858–?), ele se casou com Leonie Knoedler, irmã de Roland Knoedler, da famosa galeria de arte nova-iorquina Knoedler. Chełmiński foi mais conhecido em vida por suas obras históricas, especialmente aquelas que tratavam da história militar e das Guerras Napoleônicas.
