Jean-Baptiste Cariven
Pintor decadente erótico anticlerical
Formado com mestres em Gaillac, depois nas Belas-Artes de Toulouse e em Paris, Cariven partilhou e manteve ao longo da sua vida muitos laços de amizade com artistas de Toulouse: André Roucolle, Charles Ponsin-Andarahy, Louis Cazottes... Seguiu uma carreira como pintor e professor de arte. Continuou a produzir obras pintadas e gravadas bastante singulares, inserindo-se claramente no movimento do decadentismo, com uma propensão para o erotismo e o anticlericalismo que caracterizam as suas produções, muitas das quais permaneceram em coleções privadas.
