让-伊波利特·弗兰德兰
安格尔弟子，新古典主义纯净大师
让-伊波利特·弗朗德兰是19世纪的法国画家。他著名的1836年作品《Jeune Homme Nu Assis au Bord de la Mer》（“海边坐着的裸体青年”）收藏于卢浮宫。 从很小的时候起，弗朗德林就对艺术和画家生涯表现出兴趣。然而，他的父母强迫他成为一名商人，由于几乎没有受过训练，他被迫转而成为一名微型画家。 伊波利特是三个儿子中的第二个，他们都在某种程度上是画家。他的哥哥奥古斯托大部分时间在里昂担任教授，后来在那里去世。他的弟弟保罗是一位肖像画和宗教图像画家。 伊波利特和保罗在里昂待了一段时间，攒钱准备于1829年前往巴黎，在路易·埃尔森门下学习。最终，他们在让·奥古斯特·多米尼克·安格尔的工作室安顿下来，安格尔不仅是他们的导师，也成为了他们一生的朋友。起初，伊波利特作为一名贫困艺术家挣扎求生。然而，1832年，他凭借画作《忒修斯被父亲认出》获得了罗马大奖。这项享有盛誉的艺术奖学金意味着他不再受贫困的束缚。 罗马大奖允许他在罗马学习五年。在那里，他创作了几幅画作，提升了他在法国和意大利的知名度。他的画作《圣克莱尔治愈盲人》是为南特大教堂创作的，在1855年后的展览中，它也为他赢得了一等奖章。
