讓-伊波利特·弗蘭德蘭
安格爾弟子，新古典主義純淨大師
讓-伊波利特·弗朗德蘭是19世紀的法國畫家。他著名的1836年作品《Jeune Homme Nu Assis au Bord de la Mer》（「海邊坐著的裸體青年」）收藏於羅浮宮。 從很小的時候起，弗朗德林就對藝術和畫家生涯表現出興趣。然而，他的父母強迫他成為一名商人，由於幾乎沒有受過訓練，他被迫轉而成為一名微型畫家。 伊波利特是三個兒子中的第二個，他們都在某種程度上是畫家。他的哥哥奧古斯托大部分時間在里昂擔任教授，後來在那裡去世。他的弟弟保羅是一位肖像畫和宗教圖像畫家。 伊波利特和保羅在里昂待了一段時間，攢錢準備於1829年前往巴黎，在路易·赫爾森門下學習。最終，他們在讓·奧古斯特·多米尼克·安格爾的工作室安頓下來，安格爾不僅是他們的導師，也成為了他們一生的朋友。起初，伊波利特作為一名貧困藝術家掙扎求生。然而，1832年，他憑藉畫作《忒修斯被父親認出》獲得了羅馬大獎。這項享有盛譽的藝術獎學金意味著他不再受貧困的束縛。 羅馬大獎允許他在羅馬學習五年。在那裡，他創作了幾幅畫作，提升了他在法國和義大利的知名度。他的畫作《聖克萊爾治癒盲人》是為南特大教堂創作的，在1855年後的展覽中，它也為他贏得了一等獎章。
