Johann Christian Brand

Johann Christian Brand fu un pittore austriaco (figlio del pittore tedesco Christian Hilfgott Brand (1694–1756), che insegnava a Vienna insieme a Karl Aigen) e fratello di Friedrich August Brand. Johann Christian Brand influenzò la fine dell'era barocca nella pittura di paesaggio. Morì a Vienna. Johann Christian Brand nacque a Vienna il 6 marzo 1722. Influenzante nella conclusione dell'era barocca, Johann studiò all'Accademia di Vienna dal 1736. Gli furono conferiti i titoli di pittore di corte nel 1766 e di «professore di disegno paesaggistico» nel 1772. I dipinti paesaggistici di Johann Christian Brand segnarono la transizione dallo stile barocco allo stile di rappresentazione del paesaggio del XIX secolo. Johann Christian Brand morì a Vienna il 12 giugno 1795.
