Johann Heinrich Schilbach était un peintre et graveur allemand. Il a étudié avec Ernst Fries (q.v.) à Rome et connaissait également Ludwig Richter ; il est devenu artiste de cour à Darmstadt en 1828. Mort à Darmstadt. Johann Heinrich Schilbach appartient à la génération des jeunes romantiques qui ont mis longtemps à émerger de l'ombre des premiers romantiques, plus engagés intellectuellement. Il a consacré son œuvre exclusivement aux peintures et dessins de paysage.
