Johann Michael Rottmayr
Brachte italienischen Barock nördlich der Alpen
Johann Michael Rottmayr war ein österreichischer Maler. Rottmayr wurde in Laufen an der Salzach, Bayern, geboren. Zusammen mit seinem in Laufen geborenen Zeitgenossen Hans Adam Weissenkircher erhielt er seine Ausbildung bei Johann Carl Loth in Venedig. So wie Weissenkircher die italienische Renaissance in die südlichen Alpen und an den Hof der Fürsten von Eggenberg in Graz brachte, brachte sie Rottmayr nördlich der Alpen. Ab 1689 arbeitete er in Salzburg und wurde als Hofmaler des Fürsterzbischofs von Salzburg angestellt.
