Johannes Paulus Moreelse

Johannes Paulus Moreelse, o Johan Pauwelszon Moreelse, fue un pintor barroco neerlandés perteneciente a la escuela del caravaggismo de Utrecht durante el Siglo de Oro neerlandés. Moreelse nació en Utrecht, Holanda. Su padre, Paulus Moreelse, era en aquella época un famoso pintor de retratos. Se sabe poco sobre su vida. Johan Moreelse estudió en Utrecht, en el taller de su padre, y luego en Roma (1627), donde fue nombrado caballero de una orden papal. Moreelse murió en su ciudad natal durante una epidemia de peste. Su reducido número de obras conocidas solo le fueron atribuidas en la década de 1970.
