約翰·魯本斯·史密斯是一位出生於倫敦的畫家、版畫家和美術教師，曾在美國工作。 史密斯出生於英國倫敦，最初隨其父親、美柔汀版畫家約翰·拉斐爾·史密斯學習藝術。後來，他在皇家藝術學院學習藝術。 史密斯於1807年左右從倫敦移居紐約市。他在攝影術出現前的幾十年間描繪了美國，並透過其繪畫學院和繪畫手冊影響了一代美國藝術家。他逝於紐約市。 他的兒子約翰·羅森·史密斯（1810–1864）是一位移動全景畫家，曾與理查德·里斯利·卡萊爾合作。
