约瑟夫·赫格是一位奥地利风景画家、水彩画家、版画家和石版画家。 约瑟夫·赫格尔与他的姐夫弗里德里希·高尔曼一起进行了多次艺术旅行，例如1838年前往威尼斯和意大利北部。1843年，他成为维也纳学院的教授，他也曾在那里学习。 他以其充满氛围感且同时具有戏剧性的森林和山地景观而闻名，同时也因其细腻而详尽的水彩画著称。因此，他在朋友圈中被戏称为"树木拉斐尔"。正因如此，他的许多画作被用作石版画的模板。
