ユゼフ・ブラント
17世紀の戦闘画の巨匠
Józef Brandtはポーランドの画家であり、ミュンヘン派の代表的人物で、戦闘を描いた絵画で最もよく知られている。 BrandtはワルシャワのJ.N. Leszczynskiの学校と貴族学院で学んだ。1858年にパリに渡り、エコール・サントラル・パリで学んだが、Juliusz Kossakに説得されて工学を捨て、絵画に転向した。ミュンヘンでFranz AdamとKarl Pilotyに師事して絵画を学び、その後自身のアトリエを開いた。 彼の絵画は主に17世紀の軍事生活を研究しているが、ポーランドの農民生活についてもいくつかの研究を行っている。 1893年、ブラントはイスabella・カトリカ勲章を授与され、1898年にはバイエルン・マクシミリアン科学芸術勲章の受章者となった。
