유제프 브란트
17세기 전투화 대가
Józef Brandt는 폴란드의 화가이자 뮌헨 파의 대표 인물로, 전투를 그린 그림으로 가장 잘 알려져 있다. Brandt는 바르샤바의 J.N. Leszczynski 학교와 귀족 학교에서 수학했다. 1858년 그는 파리로 가서 에콜 상트랄 파리에서 공부했지만, Juliusz Kossak의 설득으로 공학을 포기하고 회화를 택했다. 그는 뮌헨에서 Franz Adam과 Karl Piloty 아래에서 회화를 공부한 뒤 자신의 화실을 열었다. 그의 그림은 주로 17세기 군사 생활을 연구하지만, 폴란드 농민 생활에 대한 연구도 몇 가지 수행했다. 1893년, 브란트는 이사벨 라 카톨리카 훈장을 받았고, 1898년에는 바이에른 막시밀리안 과학 예술 훈장의 수상자가 되었다.
